Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I was a stay-at-home mom for 20 years while raising my 3 wonderful kids. My husband Tom always had his own business during that time and for most of the time he worked from home so I helped him when he needed it. When our youngest daughter went to college we decided to start something new and determined we wanted to go with a franchise so that we didn’t have to reinvent the wheel.

What is your professional bio:

After graduating from college I worked for Convair (General Dynamics) and then Linkabit. I left the working world before my first son was born. My husband Tom and I opened our Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More store 3 ½ years ago on February 7, 2012. We decided on this business because of the niche market we serve and the franchisors. Our business is unique because we can service both small and large orders of shirts. Tom and I are equal partners in this business although we both have different roles in the business. We both network and sell to customers.

Why did you start your own business?

Tom and I were ready for a new business (he had sold his previous one) and we wanted to do something we could build together.

What are you most proud of in your business?

Tom and I have built the business over the last 3 ½ years and are exceeding our expectations and goals. We have made great relationships with many people in the community and enjoy working with the local schools and businesses.

What’s your super power?

I am super quick and efficient which means I do more than others in the same amount of time.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

My family (husband and kids)

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not running your business?

Square dancing.

What is one thing you wish you knew when you first started?

How much time we’d really be spending at the store.

Any advice for new entrepreneurs or someone who is thinking of starting their own business?

Make the commitment to yourself to work as hard as necessary and do whatever it takes to make your business successful. Do your research and know as much as you can about the business you’re starting. At the same time, find someone who you can call on for advice and to bounce ideas off of.
